| Job Description |

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Reservoir Characterisation Director, this role encompasses many functions, including:
Main Tasks
· Manage and develop a sub-surface team, ensuring their skills are utilised effectively.
· Perform technical work as a Reservoir Characterisation specialist, either as standalone projects or as part of large integrated studies
· Be responsible for the project management of reservoir characterisation projects i.e. to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and quality assured. Ensure adherence to contractual terms and conditions including final product requirements.
Projects
· Liaise closely with internal and external clients throughout projects ensuring that changes to study scope are agreed and documented.
· Report and document work to a high standard
· Produce financial reports and status reports for all projects and generate all the information required to produce accurate and timely invoices for all projects under the Team Leaders supervision
Sales and Marketing process
· Support business development staff, relaying any potential business leads or marketing opportunities, supporting tenders and in the production of marketing material
· Interact closely with other Company businesses to jointly develop client relation s and integrated services
· Ensure timely preparation of study proposals and cost estimates for studies which you lead according to current agreed opportunity processes
Coordination
· Interact closely with Team Leader peers to ensure optimum communication between teams
Staff Development
· Be responsible with RC Director for the training / career development of staff for which you are responsible, including (where appropriate and agreed) ensuring annual appraisals are completed.
Service Development
· Seek out and implement ways of improving work methodology and production methods and efficiency
· Keep up to date with industry-wide interpretation and processing, seismic reservoir characterisation methods and geophysical software / algorithms. Recommend new and updated software / algorithms as required. Be involved in promoting new products as required.
Reporting
· Be responsible for providing information required for resource forecasting purposes.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant QA procedures, work instructions, HSE requirements and departmental working practices by all personnel.
This role offers technical challenges working on a range of exploration and development projects and managerial potential for more senior level roles. The Company has plans to open 2-3 satellite offices around the world, offering potential for international assignments. In general, the Company is growing rapidly, and this growth offers excellent potential for career progression.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
· BSc/MSC in Geophysics / Physics or Earth Sciences discipline essential. PhD highly desirable.
· A minimum of 7 years knowledge of working and managing Reservoir Characterisation projects essential.
· You will have specialist knowledge in some of the following areas: seismic interpretation, data processing and reservoir characterisation workflows, rock physics, depth conversion, pore pressure prediction, regional geology, reservoir geology, OR/AND 2D and 3D modeller essential.
· Commercially astute – the ability to identify new business opportunities, understand the value of strong marketing and service delivery.
· Proven effective project management experience – the ability to lead teams conducting multiple projects, in a professional and timely manner essential.
· Strong understanding of the market trends, work practices and technologies relating to reservoir characterisation essential.
· Good working knowledge of a range of industry standard software used in this area essential (e.g. DownUnder GeoSolutions, SMT, Geocap, Petrel, Eclipse, Hampson Russell, Landmark, RokDoc, OpendTect, Energy Navigator, ERmapper, Tigress, Paradigm…).
· Proven team builder – the ability to mentor, support and develop staff and to utilise their skills effectively.
· Excellent client communication skills – the ability to listen and understand project constraints and expectations and to articulate/present technical results.
· Methodical with attention to detail – strong focus on delivering reputable services.
· Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to work at all levels within the Company to accomplish goals.
· Highly flexible – ability to adapt to growing business needs.
· Drive and ambition to succeed within a fast growing Company.
· Willingness to travel.
Package: An attractive Base Salary of between £60K – £75K is on offer dependent on skills and experience, plus 25 days holiday, pension, gym sponsorship, medical cover, etc… In addition, the Company operate an annual Bonus Scheme.
